With the biggest week of the jump season behind us and the Grand National on the horizon, we turn our attention to one ride at Newbury, followed by three at Bangor.
Friday
We kick things off at Newbury with He's A Latchico in the 3:00 for bosses Gary & Josh Moore. He’s well-handicapped and will appreciate both the ground and the trip. However, he hasn’t run for a while, which could be a concern, as he may need this outing to get back to his best.
Saturday
Then it’s on to Bangor, where I ride Chateau Du Lys in the 2:52 for Tom Gretton. He didn’t make much of an impact over hurdles, but he looks like a promising chaser and has shown ability in point-to-points. If he takes well to fences tomorrow, he could be well-handicapped.
Next up is One Last Glance in the 3:27, also for Tom. I won on him at Fakenham on New Year’s Day. He’s stepping up to three miles, and while his jumping can be a little sticky at times, if he sharpens that up, I think the longer trip will suit him well, and he can produce a big run.
We round things off with Jumbo Veste Verte in the 5:10, again for Tom. He hasn’t shown much so far, having been chasing, but now switches back to hurdles. Hopefully, he can find some improvement and take a step forward.
That wraps up my weekend—fingers crossed we can land a winner or two!

I have five rides this weekend, including two at Cheltenham so I'm very excited to be there. let's dive in.
Friday
My first ride at Cheltenham is Spirit d'Aunou in the 2:00 County Hurdle for the Moore's. He's big price, but I think that the trip on this track will suit him, because he stays further and hopefully they go hard early, and he might be able to pick up some small pieces at the end.
The second ride is Punctuation for Nicky Henderson in the 5:20 Martin Pipe. I used to actually be conditional for Nicky a few years ago, and it was quite nice to get a ride for a meeting like this. He's probably third string of the stable, and I don't know much about him, but he ran well on his second run for the yard at Kempton last time and again, a race like this might suit his running style. He looks like he drops in, and if he does that again tomorrow , hopefully they could go fast and he could pick up the pieces later.
Saturday
Saturday I'm over in Uttoxeter with three rides. First one is Jilaijone for Mr. Pipe i the 1:50. I rode him last time at Ascot over three miles, and he did get the trip, but they dropped him back down to two and a half. He's actually won round here at Uttoxeter over two and a half. So I think that would definitely suit him, if he's in the same form as ascot. I don't see why he wouldn't go close. It's probably dropping down a bit in grade as well. He's got top weight, but they're claiming off him, so yeah looking forward to him.
Then its Knockanore for Ryan Potter in the 3:00 Midlands national. He won the Eider with me at Newcastle a couple of weeks ago and I can't wait to ride him again. I think three weeks isn't a massive amount of time between races, but he bolted up that day and went up 10 but was probably value for more. He's won round Uttoxeter and he definitely stayed. The grounds, probably quick enough for a lot of these, including couple of the other favourites, So I'm really, really, really looking forward to getting back on it's a massive phrase for me to be riding a favourite..
My last ride is Jupiter Des Bordes for Richard Hobson in the 4:45. I haven't sat on him before, but I've been riding out for Richard Hobson a bit. He's run over fences in France. Two runs over fences in England. I don't know a whole part about him, but I'll speak to Dylan Johnson, run over the form, and get to know a little bit more that way. He's run well over this trip, and Uttoxeter is a nice place for a chaser to go around, having not had many starts. Hopefully I can strike up a good partnership with with him and Richard.
Cheers guys, I'll see you all at Cheltenham!
All the best,
Freddie Mitchell.
With most of my weekend rides withdrawn due to the drying ground, we have just one ride to look forward to at Sandown.
Saturday
I'll be riding Issar d'Airy for bosses Gary & Josh Moore in the 4:45. It’s his first time at the track, but he has experience on similar courses like Ascot and Kempton, so I think Sandown should suit him well. He’s one horse who will appreciate the drier ground, which should be a big help. Last time out, we had a lot of rain before the off, making conditions far too soft for him, but he still ran well considering the circumstances.
He seems in good form at home. I don’t regularly sit on him, but I schooled him this morning, and everything felt good. Hopefully, with the improved ground, we can see a stronger run from him.
Looking ahead to next week, I’m excited for the biggest jumps meeting of the year—the Cheltenham Festival. Keep an eye out for my showcase blog and updates on my rides at the big meeting!
All the best,
Freddie Mitchell.
After landing a big winner at Newcastle last week on Knockamore, I head into the weekend full of confidence, with rides on both days at Newbury.
Friday
On Friday, I’m in action in the 2:13, partnering Kalhandrion for Richard Hobson. This will be my first ride for Richard, and I’m keen to make a strong impression. Kalhandrion has a solid jumping pedigree—his sire was a proper jumps horse in France for G. Macaire. He’s worn a tongue tie before, but this will be his first run in a handicap. From watching his previous races, I think this type of race could really suit him, so I’m hopeful for a big performance.
Saturday
On Saturday, I’m back in the 2:13 aboard Taita Hills for the Moores. He’s taking another step up in class, but I absolutely love this horse. If the ground stays heavy, that should play to his strengths, and I see no reason why he won’t improve again—whether that means winning or running a big race. He’s been working well at home, and I’m really looking forward to hopefully getting another victory on him.

Looking forward to an exciting day of racing on Thursday at Lingfield, where I have two rides for my bosses, Gary and Josh Moore. After that, we head up to Newcastle on Saturday for two more rides for Ryan Potter.
Thursday
My first ride of the day is Heaven Smart in the 2:35. He’s an eight-year-old who is now just below his last winning mark after a recent ratings rise. This time, he runs in a tongue tie and cheekpieces, which we hope will sharpen him up and help him get back to winning ways. Ideally, we’ll get soft ground, as that will suit him perfectly and give him a strong chance of putting in a solid performance.
In the 4:35, I’m on Iskar d’Airy, a lovely horse who jumps well and has plenty of ability. He may appreciate a longer trip in time, but for now, we’re hoping soft conditions will help him travel nicely. His jumping is his biggest strength, and if he gets into a good rhythm, he should have every chance of running a big race.
Saturday
We then head to Newcastle, where I ride Knockanore in the 2:10. He won over 2m4f in December and now steps up to three miles for the first time. He’s never tackled this trip before, but I’m confident he’ll stay the distance and put in a strong performance.
Later, in the 3:20, I ride Jetoile, an Irish horse who is now very well handicapped. The trip will suit him, but it all depends on which version of Jetoile turns up on the day. If he can return to his best and replicate last year’s peak efforts, he should be right in the mix.
That wraps up my rides for Thursday and Saturday—fingers crossed for some good performances and hopefully a winner or two!

Not much action this weekend as the boss didn’t declare many, but we do have one ride to look forward to.
Friday
First up today is Tara Iti for the Moore's. I'm looking forward to him. He's dropping down into a cellar. He likes the track. It probably suits him. He's not, he's not a big horse, so down these tight bends he should go well,
Saturday
I've got Jilaijone for David Pipe tomorrow. I'm excited about that as I've never ridden for Mr. Pipe before. He's stepping up to two miles seven and a half for the first time. So I think hopefully that can bring out a bit of improvement and spirit the new for the boss
Lastly I'm riding Spirit D'aunou for the Moore's. There's some strong horses in the race but I'm hoping we can pull something out the bag.
I hope everyone enjoys the weekends racing and that todays good weather holds out.
Cheers guys,
Freddie.
Not much action this weekend as the boss didn’t declare many, but we do have one ride to look forward to.
Friday
I’m on Issar d’Airy in the 3:25 at Kempton for Gary & Josh Moore. I’m hopeful for a good run, as he’ll appreciate stepping back down to two miles and four furlongs after finishing second at Cheltenham last time out over two miles and a furlong. He’ll love the ground, which is always a big plus, so I’m excited for this ride and hoping to get a win this Friday.
All the best,
Freddie Mitchell
Heading to Lingfield today, where I have two exciting rides for Gary & Josh Moore.
Friday
My first ride is Taita Hills in the 1:15. He ran a strong race at Lingfield last time on soft ground, so the step up in trip should suit him well. This will be my second time riding him here, and I’m looking forward to it.
Later in the 3:15, I partner Donald Llewellyn. I schooled him for the first time this morning—he jumps well but hasn’t run since January last year. He’s got plenty of experience, and this will be his handicap debut. With the track and trip in his favour, I’m hopeful for a good run.
Excited for both rides—fingers crossed we can get a winner (or two)!
Cheers,
Freddie Mitchell
Looking forward to a big day of racing at Sandown, where I pick up four exciting rides!
Friday
My first ride is Ballyhealy Diamond in the 1:15 for Daniel Steele. I don’t know much about her, and she might find this race a bit too competitive.
We then ride All Authorized for Gary & Josh Moore in the 2:25, an all-novice chase. He won on his last start over hurdles. Again, it’s a competitive starting point, but we’re hoping he will run well and give a good account of himself.
Next is Spirit d’Aunou, for the Moores again in the 3:35. She will absolutely love the rain that is hopefully coming. I know he has top weight, but the heavier it gets, the better he will handle it, and he thrives at Sandown.
We finish the day with Authentic Legacy, again for the Moores in the 4:10. First-time cheekpieces and good form in his novice hurdles so far, so hopefully, he’ll be seen in a better light now he’s going handicapping.
That’s all my rides at Sandown—fingers crossed we can pick up a few winners.
Freddie Mitchell
Hello all,
Friday
I'm looking forward to riding at Windsor for the first time, Jupiter Du Gite for the Moores. I think he'll like the layout of the track. He's a free-running kind of horse, so it looks like it might suit him; he's off a nice mark.
Saturday
On Saturday, I'm riding for the Moores again, Spirit d'Aunou. I was gutted Kempton was called off last week as I think he had a very good chance. Again, he's at a nice weight, being kept down by the top horses, and he seems to be in good form, hopefully he can run well.
Sunday
Finally, on Sunday, I'm riding a third for the Moores, Hermino AA, to wrap up the weekend. Back over three miles will suit him much better than Kempton. Hopefully, the ground stays soft, and we can get a result.
Catch up with you all next week,
Freddie Mitchell
Hi everyone!
I’m thrilled to be part of the Bet Central team and excited for what’s shaping up to be a big year back in England.
This Saturday, I have just one ride as I head to Sandown to partner with Jupiter Du Gite for Gary and Josh Moore in the 1:50. He’s stepping up in grade but dropping back half a mile in trip, which should suit him well as he’s a free-going horse who likes to get on with things. With my claim, he’ll carry just 10st 4lbs, which should be a real advantage.
I’ve been riding him at home, and he’s in great form. Fingers crossed the ground stays as it is, and we can deliver a big performance. I’m really looking forward to it!
Cheers,
Freddie Mitchell
